Alfredo Morelos sends message to James Tavernier after Rangers 1-0 v Dundee
Alfredo Morelos has sent a message to James Tavernier after the Rangers skipper stopped him from going haywire against Dundee.
The Colombian international striker, 25, was smashed late in the game by an opposition player, and he was charging about the pitch trying to get around and get retribution.
However, Tavernier and Connor Goldson stopped him from doing anything silly, and Morelos appreciates the gesture, taking to his personal Instagram account to react, saying: “Captain you showed a lot of character today.”
Morelos sending a message across on social media in perfect English is a topic for another day, but seeing him appreciate being kept on a leash is classy.
Given his red-hot temper, he is often a rash action away from being sent off, and his teammates were quick to stop him from losing his mind in the 1-0 win at Dens Park as they sought to leave with all three points intact.
The Rangers ace is getting better and more disciplined on the pitch these days, but he has definitely not picked up his last red card for Steven Gerrard’s side, and Tavernier will be doing his best to stop the next one from coming soon.
El Buffalo’s personality is what makes him a lethal hitman, but he surely still has a lot of work to do to keep his name away from the referee’s book.
Rangers cannot afford to keep losing him to red cards and retrospective bans, and the collective efforts of Tav and Goldson came in very much handy against Dundee and should be appreciated.
With a title to defend and domestic cups to challenge for, Gerrard needs his talisman available every time, but the team might have lost him to a red card on Saturday.
