Ally McCoist thrilled with Glen Kamara's new Rangers contract
Ally McCoist is thrilled with Glen Kamara’s new Rangers contract after the 25-year-old midfielder agreed a four-year deal.
Rangers confirmed the Finland international’s extension on Wednesday afternoon before they beat Livingston 2-0 in the League Cup at Ibrox later in the evening.
Before the game, McCoist delivered his verdict on Kamara’s new deal, in a video shared on the Premier Sports Twitter account.
“Excellent,” he remarked. “What a signing that lad’s been. Rumour has it, what was it £50,000 [that he cost]? Absolutely amazing.
“You can see he’s been well schooled, he’s had a good upbringing and education about football.
“He’s been well-coached and he deserves everything that’s been coming his way.
“It’s a great wee signing for Rangers.”
A bumper new deal is no less than Kamara deserves.
A consummate professional, he has been at the heart of the club’s success under Steven Gerrard over the past 12 months.
Kamara was one of the leading lights in last season’s march to the Europa League round of 16 stage while his consistent displays helped the Gers to Premiership glory.
He has formed a formidable midfield trio with Steven Davis and Joe Aribo, and is one of Gerrard’s most dependable players now.
While signing a new contract does not mean he is set to stey at Ibrox for the duration, it does offer the club, as well as him, some security, and interested parties will have to pay top dollar for his services now.
In other Rangers news, a reliable journalist has shared a ‘significant’ clause in Glen Kamara’s new contract.
