Serge Atakayi reacts as Glen Kamara pens new Rangers deal

Serge Atakayi has reacted after Rangers announced that Glen Kamara has signed a new deal that keeps him at Ibrox until 2025.

The Finland international midfielder, 25, was linked with several Premier League sides in the summer, but no move materialised.

Kamara has now committed his future to the Scottish Premiership giants, and while that does not guarantee that he will remain with them for long, protecting the value of one of most prized assets makes a lot of sense.

The club took to their official Instagram account to make the announcement, and former Rangers man Atakayi responded by commenting: “My brother!”

Great news

The 22-year-old forward only made an appearance for the Light Blues, making his debut against Motherwell in a 7-1 win in November 2018.

He left for Finnish side SJK in December 2019 and has apparently remained a fan of the club due to Kamara.

While things did not work out for Atakayi at Rangers, Kamara has become an Ibrox hero, playing a huge role as Steven Gerrard’s side won the Premiership last term.

A lot of Bears fans will be forgiven if they have forgotten completely about the former Finland youth international, but fortunately, his friend continues to fly the Finland flag high at the club, and the supporters would hope he can do that for more seasons.

Kamara has a lot of quality and is already looking too big for the Scottish top-flight.

The former Arsenal academy player impressed scouts at the European Championships in the summer, and guiding his country to next summer’s World Cup could spell the end of his Rangers career.

The bigwigs will be watching him at the tournament, and a juicy bid from one of them, if he does well, will most likely force the Gers to cash in.

In other Rangers news, Charlie Nicholas has branded the Bears ‘spoiled little brats’ after major development.
