Confirmed Rangers starting XI v Livingston in the League Cup
Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Livingston at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.
Steven Gerrard has made six changes tonight from the team that started the 1-1 draw against Motherwell on Sunday.
In come Jon McLaughlin, Nathan Patterson, Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey, John Lundstram and Alfredo Morelos.
Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Jack Simpson, Borna Barisic, Steven David and Fashion Sakala drop out of the starting XI.
Rangers confirmed the news on their Twitter account prior to kick-off, with Ianis Hagi back on the bench after his recent absence.
Steven Gerrard is yet to win any of the cup competitions since his appointment at Rangers in 2018, and so he must surely be desperate to put an end to that and claim a cup victory as soon as possible.
A win tonight would also have the dual effect of restoring some confidence back into his side after two games without a win.
Last weekend’s draw followed a 2-0 loss to Lyon at Ibrox in the Europa League on Thursday, so the Gers will be anxious to avoid going three games without a win in front of their supporters.
Tonight’s opponents are likely to be in boisterous mood, however, after they beat Celtic 1-0 on Sunday.
That victory over Rangers’ bitter rivals is sure to put a spring in their step, but their recent record against the Gers is poor.
Livi have not won any of the last 11 meetings between the pair, with Rangers clocking up 10 victories in that time.
In other Rangers news, a reliable journalist has shared a ‘significant’ clause in Glen Kamara’s new contract.
