Pavel Vrba: Rangers in lot of trouble if they lose to Prague
Sparta Prague boss Pavel Vrba has started mind games in the two-week buildup to the Rangers clash on September 30 in the Europa League.
Gers started their campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lyon.
They will be looking to bounce back with a victory against Prague, but Vrba believes that his side have enough to spoil the party for Rangers.
Via The Scottish Sun, he said, “We play Rangers next and if we beat them we will have four points and they will have none. So we have the chance to really put them in a lot of trouble if we win.
“The game against Rangers at home could be the most important match in the group.”
After a decent run of wins in the league and cup, Gers came crashing down to earth with a humbling defeat against Lyon.
It’s important that Steven Gerrard and the players are not deflated by it and keep working hard as there’s a very good chance for Rangers to reach the quarterfinals of the competition should they get a favourable draw.
Having signed a number of quality players coupled with the retention of their stars, there are no excuses for the team to not improve on last season’s Europa League performances.
Winning the group is going to be a tough ask but they were handed a huge boost despite losing on matchday 1.
Brondby and Prague both dropped points and Gers could very well be in second place if they beat the latter on September 30 as Lyon are most likely to beat the former.
It remains to be seen how Rangers fare, but we’ve got a very good feeling about their chances.
