Tom English aims big jibe at Rangers after 2-0 defeat v Lyon

Rangers were making all the headlines in the build up to their Europa League clash against Lyon last night.

The Bears banned both Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon from attending Ibrox due to security concerns around the ground.

It didn’t get much better on the pitch either with the French side running away 2-0 winners in the end after a poor night.

Tom English usually isn’t far from commenting on the controversy at Ibrox, and he couldn’t help himself yet again.

The BBC journalist found himself aiming a big jibe at the club comparing their security concerns to their defence after the defeat.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, it is clear that English wasn’t impressed with what was on show.

“Obvious security concerns at the back for Rangers tonight,” he wrote. “Poor result.”

Poor.

In the end, it wasn’t far from a shambles.

All of the news and negativity surrounding the game and club going into this one was simply not helping anything.

Whether it had an effect on the players, it is hard to say, but let’s not kid ourselves, Lyon are a quality side who are usually lining up in the Champions League.

If it wasn’t for some individual errors and better finishing, it could have been a completely different story on the night.

Steven Gerrard’s men will learn a lot of lessons from this one, and hopefully, they can bounce back quickly on the pitch.

Off the pitch, this controversy is unfortunately bound to drag on much longer than anyone involved at the club would surely like.
