Rangers defender Nathan Patterson impresses in Scotland game
Heart & Hand have been impressed by Rangers defender Nathan Patterson’s performance for Scotland against Moldova.
The Scots won the contest 1-0 and Patterson played the entire 90 minutes as right wing-back.
He was a constant thorn in the Moldova side and was unfortunate not to have ended up with an assist to his name.
Rangers’ official media partners took to Twitter to wax lyrical about him and Billy Gilmour.
They wrote, “Nathan Patterson and Billy Gilmour bossing it here. Two superb talents.”
Patterson missed Gers’ last league game against Celtic as he was isolating after being in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.
However, once we saw him in training before the Moldova game, we knew that he was going to start in it.
The 19-year-old stayed put at Ibrox this summer despite interest from Everton and it’s now time for Steven Gerrard to reward him for his loyalty shown to him and the team.
Patterson did not throw any tantrums or look to force a move away from the club.
He agreed with their wishes and we’re certain that he would’ve demanded some more playing time.
With James Tavernier unlikely to start next week, we’re expecting Patterson back in the lineup.
Once everyone’s back fit, it will be interesting to see whether Gerrard switches to a different system or plays Tavernier more advanced so that he can fit the two in the same playing eleven.
