Charlie Adam shares verdict on potential Rangers exit for Alfredo Morelos
Charlie Adam has questioned Alfredo Morelos’ latest comments on leaving Rangers to move to a bigger club.
Speaking on Friday’s edition of the PLZ Soccer Football Show, the former Scotland international revealed that he doesn’t think that he would join a bigger club if the Colombian joined Porto.
This follows on from the 25-year-old’s interview with a Colombian radio station in which he admitted that he could see himself moving on from the Gers in the near future for a move to a bigger league [El VBar de Caracol Radio].
However, Adam has ripped into Morelos for these comments.
He said: “It’s only him that is stopping the deal (with his performances). A better club in a bigger league. Is Porto a bigger club than Rangers? Absolutely not.
“You talk about a bigger league; yes, they have got some good teams. Your Lisbon and Benfica and things like that, but to talk about bigger clubs, I don’t see it.”
Will Morelos leave for a move to Portugal?
The striker was very heavily linked with a move to Porto during the last summer transfer window, but nothing came of it, and he stayed put.
In January, it would be interesting to see if the Portuguese side come back for the Colombian and firm up their interest as then Morelos would have a decision to make.
Porto are a big club that regularly compete in the Champions League, but we don’t think that they are as big as Rangers, and the difference in the league probably isn’t that much either.
So, certainly, we agree with what Adam is saying, and if Morelos were to leave the Gers, we would hope that he would at least move to a top European league.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has made an interesting claim on the club’s finances.
