Barry Ferguson slams ridiculous Rangers transfer window narrative

Barry Ferguson believes that Rangers have had a good summer window, contrary to the opinions of others.

Gers addressed the areas they had to do to give Steven Gerrard a side good enough to retain the title and go deep in Europe.

They also did not lose any of their big names despite suffering a huge hit on their revenues for the season after getting knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers.

In his Daily Record column, Ferguson wrote, “Rangers transfer window a failure? You’re having a laugh!

“I’ve heard that accusation being thrown at the club simply because they never made a big sale but these are the same folk who claimed Steven Gerrard ’s side couldn’t perform in front of a crowd.

“Sunday’s derby win categorically put that one to bed. And I’m confident they’ll get the same ruthless response to their claims this window has been a disaster come the end of the season.”

Spot on

This has been one of Rangers’ best transfer window in years and the ones who are saying it’s a failure are possibly basing it off of current form.

It’s honestly quite a ridiculous narrative that has sprung up by reactionary people who want to pounce on the team after one day at the office.

Yes, there are no excuses for the Champions League exit, but since then, the players have looked rejuvenated and once Gerrard has had everyone to call upon, one can see the newfound confidence in the side.

The best way to silence the critics is to now go on a run post the international break and put in dominating performances in the Europa League.

With a better squad than last season, the Gers must back themselves to reach the semi-finals in Europe, especially if they get a favourable draw.
