Joe Aribo late to Nigeria duty after deadline-day transfer saga
Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr has shared that Rangers star Joe Aribo was subject to late exit possibilities at Rangers this week.
The playmaker is now late to the international break, after being granted the time to stay away over his future.
Rangers got through deadline day without any big-name exits from Ibrox, but it looks as though it wasn’t without the want of trying.
Speaking to the Nigerian media via the Daily Record, Rohr shared the news that has come out of nowhere this week.
“We are ready, we are still missing two players or three (Aribo, Onuachu, Awaziem), they will arrive tonight or tomorrow,” he said.
“These players were concerned by transfer problems so they could not be here with us since yesterday (Tuesday).”
Sigh of relief.
We have to admit that the silence around players at Ibrox on deadline day left us with a sense of nervousness.
The interest in the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos was well known to everyone, but players like Aribo haven’t attracted much.
Galatasaray were linked earlier in the year, but the Turkish club never appeared to take it any further, although they could have gone in under-the-radar on Tuesday.
Aribo arrived for a bargain fee from Charlton and has transformed his game in the past couple of years to become one of our most important assets.
Hopefully, with nothing happening in the window, we can assume that the interest has gone for now and can all look forward to the future.
