Fashion Sakala hints he is back to full fitness ahead of Rangers v Celtic
Rangers host Celtic this afternoon in the first Old Firm clash of the new season, and have been handed an injury boost going by a social media post.
Zambia international attacking midfielder Fashion Sakala has struggled with fitness since moving to Ibrox in the summer, but he could be playing against the Hoops today from the look of things.
The 24-year-old was excluded from the Light Blues’ Europa League squad for the play-offs with Alashkert, but he is back and has taken to his personal Instagram account to post an update.
He said: “Happy to be back”
Rangers were without manager Steven Gerrard and some of their stars for the second-leg of the Europa League playoff against Aashkert during the week due to a coronavirus outbreak within the club.
Ryan Kent could miss the Celtic game after a hamstring injury he sustained against Ross County saw him miss out on the trip to Armenia, and the Light Blues have been handed a boost with Sakala’s return.
With Scott Wright also a doubt, having the Zambian available would go a long way to increase Rangers’ chances of getting a result against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The winger is yet to score or assist officially since joining from Oostende on a free, and the chance to open his account in the biggest game of the domestic campaign has presented itself.
He is not likely to be thrown straight into action, but he could be coming off the bench in the second half, and he will fancy his chances of influencing the proceedings.
The Bears badly want a win over Celtic, and Sakala will become an instant hero if he inspires his new side to much-needed victory.
In other Rangers news, PL club is plotting late summer deal to sign Bears ace following an extensive homework.
