Jim White predicts Rangers v Celtic to end in 2-2
Rangers and Celtic clash in the first Old Firm derby of the new season on Sunday at Ibrox, and Jim White is looking forward to the game.
The Scottish Premiership giants dominated the derbies last season on their way to winning the title, drawing one and winning the other three.
Rangers dominated their last encounter and ran out 4-1 winners at Ibrox in May, but White does not see them doing so tomorrow, predicting a stalemate.
The former Sky Sports pundit told talkSPORT (as shown on their official YouTube channel): “Sunday’s Old Firm match here at Ibrox. So difficult to predict. They always are, Old Firm games.
“So, what do we think? Ranger against Celtic.
“I think…something tells me this would not be won and it won’t be lost. I’m going to go 2-2 on the day.”
White is a Rangers fan and secretly wishes to see Steven Gerrard’s men come out on top tomorrow, but Celtic’s improvement under new manager Ange Postecoglou is frightening and cannot be ignored.
The defending champions will be without their influential manager in the technical box, while some key players are also set to miss the game after a coronavirus outbreak.
Nevertheless, the Light Blues can call on a team capable of challenging the visitors, and the presence of their fans filling up Ibrox should spur them on.
However, facing a Celtic side that have scored 12 goals over their last two league games will be a huge test.
The Rangers defence shipped just 13 goals in 38 Premiership games last season and kept 26 clean sheets, but they have struggled this season and will have to be on top of their game to keep the Hoops out.
A 2-2 draw will be a fair result given the little difference in the quality of both teams so far this term, but whoever wins will fancy their chances of ending up with the title.
