Rangers Super Fans fume at Kevin Clancy's appointment as the referee for the Old Firm

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Rangers Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Ibrox. You can join in the discussion on our Rangers Insider Facebook page.

Rangers Super Fans have flocked to a post on the Rangers Insider Facebook page about Kevin Clancy’s appointment as the referee for the Old Firm, and they are not happy.

Clancy has been involved in a few controversial incidents with the Gers in the past, and it is clear that our Super Fans are not happy to see that he will be the man in the middle on Sunday.

In one Old Firm game during the 2019/20 season, Clancy made so many decisions favouring Celtic that Michael Beale was banned for accusing him of cheating.

This is what our Super Fans had to say:

During that game, in which the Gers won 2-1 at Celtic Park, Clancy failed to send Christopher Jullien off when he hauled Alfredo Morelos down as he strolled through on goal [Daily Record].

He also failed to disallow the Bhoys’ goal for handball and also failed to spot a blatant penalty for Rangers when Joe Aribo had his shirt pulled.

So, you can see why our Super Fans are fuming at this appointment, and we hope that Clancy can avoid more controversial decisions.

This could turn out to be an awful appointment if Clancy manages the match as he did two years ago.

In other Rangers news, one man is finally in line for his debut after their COVID crisis.
