Steven Smith blown away by what Hagi did vs Alashkert
Ianis Hagi impressed former Rangers full-back Steven Smith, who was on commentary for the Alashkert Europa League clash.
Rangers ended up winning the game 1-0 through Alfredo Morelos’ second-half strike, despite being down to ten men after John Lundstram’s sending off.
However, they could have won it more comfortably if the Colombian had found the back of the net from Hagi’s impeccable cross from the right flank.

While commentating on the game, Smith said on Rangers TV [19/08, 9:20 pm], “Incredible delivery by Ianis Hagi.
“A fantastic ball in and you expect Morelos to do better from there.
“Hagi’s been brilliant today. Both with and without the ball.”
Solid game
After Lundstram got sent off at half-time, we began to fear the worst.
Despite having a man advantage, we managed to mess up our last European clash and we were expecting more of the same with a player down this time around.
However, we came out strongly in the second period and a lot of that was because of Hagi, who had an exceptional game on the right wing.

He carried the ball exceptionally well, got involved in the mix by playing a few intricate passes with James Tavernier and Steven Davis and of course, putting in long passes on a plate for Morelos.
The Colombian wasn’t at his clinical best, but managed to score when it mattered and won us the game.
He certainly would be thanking Hagi inside the dressing room who put in another selfless performance for the team.
Hopefully, we see the second leg out and ensure that we’re in the group stages of the Europa League.
