Tom English baffled by Rangers kit gaffe in clash in 1-0 win v Alashkert
BBC Scotland journalist Tom English was baffled by Ryan Kent’s kit mishap as Rangers beat Alashkert 1-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Steven Gerrard’s side was reduced to 10 men in the first half of their play-off match at Ibrox when John Lundstram picked up two yellow cards before Alfredo Morelos netted the winner in the 67th minute.
Before he was substituted off at half-time, winger Kent went viral on Twitter because he weirdly had a shirt with 32Red as the sponsor on the front and not Unibet like his teammates.
Speaking about it on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportscene on Thursday night [09:16pm], English expressed his bemusement at the gaffe.
He said: “It’s utterly, utterly bizarre. I’ve never seen this before, have you?”
Host Richard Gordon replied to say: “Never seen it before.”

How did that happen?
It’s a mistake that is bound to get a lot of attention and it’s something the Rangers kitman may want to ensure doesn’t happen again.
From our perspective, we’ll see it as a simple mistake that can easily be made.
However, from the outside looking in, you’ll have no doubt that UEFA will end up sticking their nose in and asking why the club is bearing two different main sponsors on their kit.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that because it’s clearly just a misprint and nothing was meant by it – unless Kent has some promotional deal with 32Red that no one is aware about.
Rangers’ start to the season has been less than impressive and although we won against Alashkert, the performance really wasn’t great.
Kent was substituted off at half-time – presumably not because he was wearing the wrong kit – and it’s likely he was hooked because he’s really not playing well.
He’s not the only one. What on earth is Lundstram doing?
We need to improve drastically because Celtic have started to show signs of their players clicking and we need to be in top form to win the upcoming Old Firm.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have made a multi-million bid to sign “one of the best players” in a European league.
