Rangers still want to sign a new forward, Bright Osayi-Samuel’s situation has changed
Rangers want to sign another midfielder and forward before the end of the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The online news outlet claims the Gers are still in pursuit of two signings as they look to overcome a difficult start to the 2021/22 campaign.
The identity of the midfielder looks to be clear with the Scottish Sun reporting that Steven Gerrard hopes to complete the signing of Huddersfield Town’s Juninho Bacuna today [Thursday].

However, there appears no obvious name for the forward line.
Fenerbahce attacker Bright Osayi-Samuel has been linked with the Light Blues for some time.
However, the 23-year-old, who was praised by ex-Gers boss Mark Warburton last year for his “blistering pace” [Kilburn Times] last year, is “likely” to stay in Turkey now, with The Athletic reporting that his “situation has now changed”.

More firepower
Rangers already have plenty of highly-rated forwards in the squad, with the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala, just to name a few.
However, across two Scottish Premiership and two Champions League clashes so far this season, the Gers have only scored more than once on one occasion.
They only managed one in both reversals to Malmo while failing to score in a 1-0 loss to Dundee United at Tannadice where they managed just two shots on target.
Of course, it’s only early in the season and players like Morelos are battling to regain their fitness after having extended breaks following international exertions in the summer.
However, Gerrard is clearly keen to address issues at the front.
The cynics may suggest that a new forward will only be brought in if Morelos or Kent leave, but the chances of either exiting Ibrox this summer looks increasingly unlikely as time ticks away.
In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has suggested that Light Blues stars are set to exit Ibrox as the club looks to balance their books.
