Michael Ball: Losing Ryan Kent would be a huge blow for Rangers

Losing Ryan Kent amid links to Leeds United would be a huge blow for Rangers, claims former left-back Michael Ball.

Gers’ Champions League exit leaves them with a huge deficit in terms of finances and they could be forced into selling a few of their prized assets to balance the books.

Ryan Kent, is one name who has been continually linked with a move from the club, and The Athletic’s Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has claimed that he is a player that Marcelo Bielsa has liked for a long time.

Speaking to the Transfer Tavern about Kent, Ball said, “It would be a huge blow for Rangers to lose Ryan.

“I was quite surprised Rangers forked out so much money for the guy but he’s been an instant success and a fans’ favourite.

“It would be a huge blow if he goes.”

Must keep him

While we may have to sell one or two players, Kent is the last one we must contemplate getting off the books at the Ibrox. He is one of our most talented players and has the ability to turn the game on its head in the blink of an eye.

At 24, he’s only going to get better with time and if he fails to realise his ambitions with us, we can always sell him for a higher fee in the next two years.

Rangers

He appears to be a model professional from the outside and it’s no surprise why Steven Gerrard rates him so highly.

Instead of Kent, if we have to sell someone, it should be Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian has been flirting with an exit for a while and we’ve signed Fashion Sakala who could fill his shoes in the due course.

We’re waiting to see whether FC Porto can table a bid that matches our valuation for the player, but he would be the one we’d rather see gone this summer.
