Marvin Johnson tips John Lundstram for success

John Lundstram has been tipped for great things at Rangers by his former teammate Marvin Johnson.

The new Gers signing has endured a rather slow start to life at Ibrox and it has coincided with them getting knocked out of the Champions League and losing their first league game in over a year.

However, Johnson, who spent years with him at Bramall Lane, believes the 27-year-old will fight back and do well in Scotland.

Rangers

In an interview with The Scottish Sun, he said, “He is a commanding character and the ultimate professional. The kind of guy you love having in your team.

“When the going gets tough, you definitely want someone like John beside you. He is a class act and he proved that when United did so well after they won promotion from the Championship.

“I’m certain he will play a big part this season and if they need more leaders he will fit in just fine.”

Has our backing

Lundstram has not enjoyed the best of starts to life at the Ibrox, but he’ll be the first one to tell you that.

He’s had to deal with worse odds in his career and he’s found a way out of them every time, and we’re sure we’ll see more of the player we signed from Sheffield United in the coming gameweeks.

Rangers

There is undoubtedly pressure when a player signs for a club like Rangers, especially after an unbeaten league season and thus far it seems like he’s let the occasion get to himself.

However, we’d rather take Johnson’s word for it as he’s someone who’s spent countless hours on the training field with him. He’s certainly seen him at his worst and knows that he will soon be back to his best.

Steven Gerrard may look to bring him off the bench in the next few games so as to get him to adapt to his style of play.

It remains to be seen how the 27-year-old fares in our next few games.
