Two key players set to return, Lundstram faces axe – Predicted Rangers XI Alashkert

Rangers are set to take on Alashkert in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday after crashing out of the Champions League qualifiers.

The loss against Malmo will still be playing on the minds of the players despite running out 5-0 winners over Dunfermline in the Scottish League cup.

Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe will be in contention to start after serving out their suspensions last week.

Allan McGregor was one of many players rested for Friday’s cup game and he’s set to return to the starting lineup.

In defence, James Tavernier will come in at right-back despite Nathan Patterson impressing against Dunfermline.

Partnering Connor Goldson at centre-back will be Filip Helander with the exit-linked Borna Barisic playing at left-back.

John Lundstram anchored our midfield on Friday and even got a goal for it, but that game wasn’t against quality opposition and he has underperformed whenever he’s started in the big matches.

We expect him to be axed with Steven Davis returning to his usual midfield position and Joe Aribo and Kamara playing in front of him.

Fashion Sakala signed in the summer and could be the eventual successor to Alfredo Morelos, but as long as the Colombian is in the side, he will be the one leading the line.

Ryan Kent is yet to hit top gear this season but is still a terrifying prospect down Gers’ left flank and will be starting on Thursday night.

Roofe, who’s had some injury niggles, looks to have put them behind him and will be expected to play on the right wing.
