Nikola Katic hints at many more Rangers appearances

Rangers centre-back Nikola Katic has been linked with an Ibrox exit this summer, and he has taken to social media to drop what appears to be a huge hint.

The Scottish Sun reported during the weekend that Light Blues sporting director Ross Wilson has met with the agent of the 24-year-old Croatian, instructing him to find the defender a new club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Katic has now taken to his personal Instagram account on Sunday to drop what appears to be a reply to the rumours, posting: “Many more like this to come.”

Great

Katic did not feature in Rangers 5-0 demolition of Dunfermline Athletic on Friday, with manager Steven Gerrard preferring to deploy Jack Simpson alongside Connor Goldson in central defence.

The Croatian did not make the matchday squad for the Premier Sports Cup clash, but he only just returned to action after spending the whole of last season out with a knee injury.

Katic played 70 minutes for the B team against Dumbarton in the SPFL trophy last week and came through unscathed, and we do not see him getting rushed back into action anytime soon.

Rangers

A loan move could be on the cards as the centre-back really needs to play regularly this season, but whether he will be handed a new deal remains to be seen.

He has entered into the final 12 months of his contract, and with Gerrard able to count on the likes of Goldson, Filip Helander, Leon Balogun and Simpson ahead of him, it could be tough for him to get back into this Rangers side.

He has backed himself to, though, and we have to admit nothing can be ruled out once a player is determined to prove his detractors wrong.
