UEFA Financial Fair Play revamp set to have significant impact on Rangers
UEFA are set to overhaul their Financial Fair Play system and it could have a huge impact on Rangers, according to The Daily Record.
The new rules would see a salary cap and ‘luxury tax’ levied on clubs that exceed it where the money overspent would go into a pot to be redistributed to other clubs.
Salaries are likely to be a maximum of 70 per cent of turnover, and given Rangers’ last year’s 73 per cent figure, they would also have to pay a fee which would have a significant impact on them signing players in the future.

Will it work?
UEFA are notorious for imposing financial restrictions that usually benefit the richest clubs although they’re guised as they’re put into place to curb their spendings.
Of late, Paris St. Germain and Manchester City have been luxuriously spending on players and wages without any dire ramifications.
This new rule could also affect our spending as we’re still exceeding that 70 per cent cap.

However, with fans back into stadiums our revenues will increase and hopefully, we’ll come into the limit.
With the lack of Champions League revenue, undoubtedly this will be a steep hill to climb and could result in us selling a big earner to meet that threshold.
Hopefully, we go on a good run in the Europa League and win the league so that our financial situation will look much better at the end of the season.
