Stephen Craigan thrilled by John Lundstram for Rangers v Dunfermline

Rangers got off to the perfect start in their Premier Sports Cup clash with Dunfermline this evening.

Looking for a response, the Bears took the lead within two minutes as John Lundstram smashed home his first goal for the club.

Stephen Craigan was thrilled with what he saw in the opening minutes, as Ibrox never stopped rocking.

Speaking during live commentary of the game on Premier Sports, Craigan heaped praise on the midfielder for his clever finish.

“It’s a nightmare for Graham Dorrans,” he said.

“You can’t take anything away from John Lundstram, he backs up from midfield. The defenders traditionally go towards the goal to try and protect the space between themselves and the goalkeeper.

“He’s clever. It’s the ideal start.”

Perfect.

Things continued to get even better for the Bears.

This is what we have been missing so far this season, and although against lower opposition, there was enormous pressure before tonight.

Lundstram was one of those who has failed to catch the eye so far in all competitions, so getting forward and hitting that first goal will leave him brimming with confidence.

Steven Gerrard will also be delighted, as he tries to morph some of his old game onto his new midfield maestro.

It is time to kick on for Lundstram, though, he must do this more and make it a consistent sight to see his name on the scoresheet.
