Darren Gough expects Gerrard to stay at Rangers despite Premier League speculation
Steven Gerrard isn’t interested in going anywhere as he’s fully committed to managing Rangers, according to talkSPORT host Darren Gough.
After leading the Gers to their 55th league title last season, Gerrard has been linked with a number of jobs south of the border.
He was linked with the vacancy at Everton before they hired Rafa Benitez [Fabrizio Romano] and there was also speculation about him replacing Jurgen Klopp at his former club Liverpool [GiveMeSport].

However, despite the setback in Europe this week, Gough doesn’t see Gerrard managing anywhere but Rangers in the immediate future.
“For all the rumours about Gerrard, ‘he wants Premier League clubs and he’ll go’, I don’t think he does. I think he actually enjoys it in Scotland and he’s managing under big pressure there against Celtic,” said Gough, as shown in a clip on the official talkSPORT Twitter account on Wednesday.
When asked if he thinks a mid-table Premier League club would be able to prise Gerrard away from Ibrox, the former England cricket star said: “No, I don’t think he would at this moment in time.
“I think he still feels as though there are a few lessons to be learned.
“He’s managing under huge pressure situations because there are two clubs really in Scotland, that’s how people look at it. The other clubs are good, I’m not criticising them. But it’s Celtic or Rangers to win the title, that’s where you see it, and that’s a huge pressure.
“If you don’t win the title, there’s a good chance you’ll get the sack.”
Gerrard in
If you fail to rate Gerrard or were taking to social media or various forms to call for the manager’s head, then you’re not really the wisest of fans.
Gerrard led us to our first league title in a decade last season. He stopped Celtic winning 10 in a row and for the second consecutive season, he led us to the last-16 of the Europa League.
They are massive, massive achievements for a club that is still slightly hampered by the impact of the 2012 financial meltdown.
Rangers had to claw their way back to the top of Scottish football after a truly horrific version of events that have scarred the game in this country forever.
Some people will point to Celtic’s implosion as a key factor in our success last season but that really does this squad of players and this manager a lot of disservice because they are the ones who went unbeaten in the league.
Gerrard is here for the long haul and it would take a cataclysmic failure for us to feel as though he should be sacked.
In other Rangers news, fans were furious with this player’s performance against Malmo with one urging the club to “sell him”.
