David Bates will not be returning to Rangers
Rangers are reportedly not interested in bringing back defender David Bates to Ibrox this summer.
According to German media outlet Fussball Nachrichten, Bundesliga side Hamburg are preparing for life without the 24-year-old, but Rangers are not keen on signing him.
This update was issued after a report in Homme du Match stated that there was some interest from the defending Scottish champions to re-sign the Scotland international.

Great news
Bates left the club in 2018 after he was struggling to get game time even for the reserves and while he must’ve matured as a player since then, it’s not worth taking the punt on someone who’s being pushed out of the door by his current club.
We’re in plenty of issues ourselves regarding finances after failing to qualify for the Champions League and the last thing we would want is more someone not good enough to occupy space on our payroll.

He has only a year left on his deal at Hamburg so he won’t be too expensive in terms of his transfer fee, but centre-back is certainly not a position that we need an upgrade on at the moment.
Conor Goldson, Leon Balogun, Flip Helander and Jack Simpson stack up our defence pretty well and Nikola Kalic’s arrival will also be a major boost this season.
Bates could be on his way out this summer, but he’s not going to be coming to the Ibrox.
