Journalist claims Bright Osayi-Samuel is on massive wages amid report Rangers have tabled a bid

Fenerbahce winger Bright Osayi-Samuel is on hefty wages at the Turkish giants amid a recent report that Rangers have tabled a bid for the 23-year-old.

That is according to journalist Alan Nixon [The Sun], who was asked on his personal Twitter profile whether there was much interest in the Nigerian this summer, who Turkish journalist Talha Arslan claimed yesterday Rangers were “beginning formal bids for”.

He simply replied: “[He’s] On big, big money.”

Out of our reach?

Nixon has not detailed just how much Osayi-Samuel is earning in Turkey, but it sounds like a pretty pay packet.

The Twitter user who asked Nixon said he could be a great addition for any Championship club, so perhaps Nixon was intimating that clubs in that division may struggle to reach his demands.

As a club currently in the Champions League [as of Tuesday afternoon, at least] one would think Rangers could blow those sort of sides out of the water.

But the reality is that all the money seems to be in England these days, and that has trickled down from the big-hitters in the Premier League to sides in the second and third-tier.

Rangers

The ‘parachute payments’ that these club receive as a financial guarantee upon relegation to the Championship ensure they can compete with the Gers in terms of transfer fees and wages, even trumping us on many occasions.

But, if we do manage to oust Malmo and reach the Champions League, we will receive a windfall that could make previously unattainable players, attainable.

Whether someone like Osayi-Samuel would justify a big wage is rather doubtful at this stage – he’s yet to fully prove himself at Fenerbahce since leaving QPR for Istanbul in January – but competing in the top competitions will certainly give us a big financial and sporting advantage over other clubs.

In other Rangers news, there has been a significant Gers player injury update ahead of Tuesday’s clash versus Malmo.
