Chris Sutton tweets instant react as Rangers lose v Malmo
Rangers only had themselves to blame for being “too complacent” in their defeat to Malmo on Tuesday night, according to Chris Sutton.
Steven Gerrard’s men have now lost three matches in a row and lost both of the Champions League qualifier fixtures against Malmo 2-1.
Alfredo Morelos’ goal put the Gers ahead in the first half at Ibrox on Tuesday before Bonke Innocent was controversially sent off for the Swedish before the break.

However, two quickfire goals – again – at the start of the second half won the match for Malmo, who have now progressed to the play-off round.
Ex-Celtic striker Sutton feels Scotland’s coefficient in European football may have been hurt by the Gers’ defeat too.
“Bitterly disappointing night for Rangers and Steven Gerrard against 10 man Malmö,” said Sutton via his personal Twitter account in instant reaction to the full-time result on Tuesday night.
“Only have themselves to blame. Too complacent. Bad night for the coefficient.
He’s right
Let’s face it, Sutton has got this spot on and to be fair to him, he could have tweeted something far crueller than he did.
Rangers’ performance after seeing Malmo go down to 10 men was pathetic, to put it frankly.
We played well for the first half an hour but Allan McGregor could have been sent off for handling the ball outside his area before Connor Goldson’s play-acting got Innocent sent off for a second yellow card.
It was the wrong decision and instead of letting it get to their heads, Malmo came out after the break all fired up and absolutely punished a Gers side that, as Sutton says, was too complacent.
We should have killed the game off as soon as possible after half-time but some really wretched defending let us down.
There have to be massive question marks over Goldson now because it was yet another poor performance by him while Leon Balogun did no better alongside the Englishman.
Gary Cahill is still available.
Maybe it is time Stevie G gets on the phone to his former England teammate.
In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart sent an out-of-character message to the Gers ahead of the clash with Malmo.
