Alex Rae slams John Lundstram after Rangers v Dundee United
John Lundstram has been criticised by Alex Rae after putting in a sub-par performance for Rangers in the 1-0 loss against Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.
The Rangers summer signing was at fault for Jamie Robson’s winner as he did not track his man which led to the Dundee United full-back being clean through on goal.
Speaking on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard following the Rangers defeat, the BT Sport pundit questioned the thought process behind having the ex-Sheffield United player in the team.

He said, “You look at Lundstram in the middle of the park, I am struggling to see what he is actually bringing at the moment.
“I have to take on board that like most players that come to a new club he is trying to get up to speed, but I don’t know what he is bringing to the park.
“Rangers need someone to go from middle to front so that they can get runners going in behind, because when you are playing against a team that have a low block, two banks that you have to break, you need to get runners going in behind and get them stretched to find those gaps.”
Needs to improve
Lundstram has not enjoyed the best of starts to life at Ibrox and it is quite an unforgiving place sometimes if players don’t hit the ground running.
The 27-year-old arrived at the club with plenty of fanfare and now the onus is on him to deliver as we’re not only looking to retain the title, but also to qualify and do well in the Champions League and possibly progress to the Round of 16.

Steven Gerrard will give him time to adapt as will most Rangers fans, but if he’s not performing we’re sure he will drop him for someone who’s training better and willing to put in the hard yards.
Thus far, Lundstram isn’t playing with that kind of mentality he did in Sheffield United’s first season back up in the Premier League.
That is the player that Gerrard brought to the club this summer and right now he seems far off from his 2019 self.
