Rangers-linked Siriki Dembele left out of matchday squad
Rangers target Siriki Dembele was left out of Peterborough United’s matchday squad for their game against Luton Town on Saturday.
The EFL Championship newcomers were handed a reality check as they fell prey to a 3-0 defeat without the services of their talisman Dembele.
According to The Daily Record (18:37 update on 07/08/2021) the 24-year-old, who has been transfer listed at London Road, was left out of the team amid links to Rangers and Celtic.

Should we sign him?
The uncertainty surrounding Alfredo Morelos’ future makes this a tricky question to answer.
While we would love quality players at the Ibrox, they would come to the club with the guarantees of playing time, and at the moment, Dembele is unlikely to be granted that.
We’ve also signed Fashion Sakala this summer who looks to be getting along well with the Rangers players and appears to be a good fit for Steven Gerrard’s system.
Should Dembele want to join us and play as a backup then we would certainly take him. We’re hoping to qualify for the Champions League and it will be important for us to have a deep squad as we’re already seeing the repercussions of resting some of our key players for European games.

The 24-year-old played an important role in helping Peterborough clinch promotion to the Championship, so he certainly comes with winning pedigree.
He’s also got an eye for goal just as much as he has the knack of setting up telling chances, bagging 11 goals and setting up 12 assists in the league last season.
His versatility of playing on the right and left flank as well as a central striker may be why he’s caught Gerrard’s attention, but finding a place for him in our starting XI would certainly be a tricky affair.
