Willie Miller blasts Alfredo Morelos for Rangers v Dundee United

Rangers welcomed back Alfredo Morelos to their starting XI as they took on Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

It was a hostile game for the Colombian, who rarely got possession of the ball during throughout the clash.

Willie Miller has blasted El Bufalo, claiming he was simply an “absentee” as the game continued at Tannadice.

Speaking to the BBC during the game, Miller singled out Morelos as one of those who was simply a passenger.

“Rangers look as though they’re stunned and searching for what they do next,” he said.

“They’re not getting any time on the ball. They’ve created very few chances. Morelos has been an absentee. The midfield has been very poor.”

Absentee?

We think this is very harsh.

Morelos was involved in many key moments, winning free-kicks, and popping up in the final third with a couple of chances.

Praise will go to Dundee United’s defence for their high-pressure start, with it always being hard to create space when the press is so aggressive.

The second-half completely transformed from the Gers dominating to United taking a lucky lead after a huge deflection sent Jamie Robson in on goal.

Morelos needed to show more after that happened, granted, but across the entire game, he certainly wasn’t an absentee.

Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe were watching on from the bench, and if Gerrard agreed with this assessment, El Bufalo would have been dragged off much earlier.

It was an off-day for everyone, and we will need to move on very quickly.
