Confirmed: Kemar Roofe misses Rangers clash v Dundee Utd with personal issue

Rangers forward Kemar Roofe is missing from the Dundee United clash with a family issue on Saturday afternoon.

Steven Gerrard confirmed the news ahead of kick-off at Tannadice and sent his full support to the Bears talisman.

Alfredo Morelos returned to the starting XI, as well as Jermain Defoe returning to the bench to cover the loss.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, Gerrard confirmed that it was a last-minute withdrawal.

“Unfortunately, Kemar Roofe dropped out last minute,” he said.

“He’s got a family issue that he’s dealing with, and we give him the full support on that.”

Blow.

Roofe will have been raring to go this afternoon after missing the Malmo clash through suspension in midweek.

As well as that, he only started on the bench against Livingston but did come on the find the back of the net in the opener.

The striker will have been desperate for a start and to get back in the final third and smashing in goals, but that wasn’t to be.

Having Defoe and Morelos back and available was brilliant news alongside Cedric Itten too, proving our attacking options are second-to-none.

New signing Fashion Sakala missing out completely proves that, and we hope that everyone is available for that huge clash on Tuesday night.

We send Kemar our best wishes and hope that he can be back involved as soon as possible, but of course, family comes first.
