Chris Sutton reacts as Rangers lose 40-game unbeaten league streak

Chris Sutton wasted no time in issuing his reaction to the news that Rangers have lost their 40-match unbeaten Scottish Premiership run.

The Gers came up short at Tannadice on Saturday afternoon as Dundee United beat them 1-0 through a second-half goal from Jamie Robson.

Rangers piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser but it proved to be in vain as the home side held firm to clinch the shock result of the season so far. It’s the Light Blues’ first league defeat since March 2020, when they lost to Hamilton Academical.

Barely seconds after the final whistle blew, ex-Celtic striker Sutton was quick to deliver his verdict on events via his personal Twitter profile.

He wrote: “Good win for Dundee United that is.”

Sutton makes no mention of Rangers in this tweet, but he knows what he’s doing. He’s still trying to rile up Bears with this indirect message.

We all know it won’t be long before he directly addresses the game and lays into Rangers. It’s what he’s been waiting for, and finally the Gers have given him an excuse to smirk.

Gerrard will be extremely disappointed with the game that was lethargic in performance, and Dundee United were probably well worth the three points.

But it’s been so long without defeat, and we can’t start throwing tantrums now our long unbeaten run has come to an end.

Of course, we need to learn from it. It should act as a wake-up call to the squad, particularly after the midweek defeat to Malmo which has put us on the brink of a Champions League exit.

But it’s still early in the season, some players are just coming back into the side like Alfredo Morelos, and the only was is up now.

In other Rangers news, Dave King has made an exciting claim about a potential £60million-plus windfall at Ibrox.
