Report: Rangers response to SPFL-cinch saga expected soon amid sponsorship withdrawal threat
Rangers are likely to issue a response soon as the cinch-SPFL sponsorship saga rumbles on, according to The 4th Official.
The report claims the SPFL have gone “full on doom-mongering mode” as they continue to fume against the Gers’ decision not to display cinch sponsorship.
The Gers claim they have broken no rules, pointing to page 113, rule 17.1 on ‘Commercial Contracts, Broadcasting and Transmission’ in the SPFL rule book which provides an exception for the Gers not showing the sponsor on their shirts or in the stadium.

Writing on The 4th Official Patreon, the reports adds: “They [SPFL] have now said to the clubs that if this is not resolved within the next fortnight or so, cinch will withdraw from this deal. They have also informed the clubs that Rangers are yet to give a legal justification as to why they are not displaying the cinch branding on the jerseys or inside the stadium.
“A ludicrous charge given Rangers informed the SPFL that they would not be able to display the cinch branding before a deal was even stuck.
“I fully expect Rangers to respond to this soon. SPFL has created an alternative reality and expects us to play along with it which shifts their failure on Rangers.”

Big battle brewing?
All signs point toward Rangers being proven right on this point, that they are legally exempt from displaying the cinch sponsorship due to a clause in the SPFL contract.
It looks like the league have made a big error in their dealings and are frantically trying to cover their tracks.
As ever, the Gers are being made to look like the fall guys.
The onus has been shifted onto Rangers with the threat that if they do not succumb to their demands, then the rest of the league will suffer as a result of cinch withdrawing their sponsorship.
Well, perhaps they should have listened to Rangers when they first pointed out the flaw in the contract before the deal was struck?
It will be interesting to hear the response of the Rangers hierarchy, and how the SPFL try to wriggle out of the predicament they currently find themselves in.
