Rangers to shelve plans to sign Joey Veerman as Kamara closes on new deal

Glen Kamara is set to sign a new Rangers deal, and it may put a move for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman on the back burner, according to The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell.

The Ibrox outfit are well-stocked in the middle of the park already, and could decide against signing the Dutchman with the Finland international now staying.

Kamara has been linked with a couple of Premier League outfits but the 25-year-old is now set to stay beyond this summer after both parties eventually reached an agreement.

Rangers

Expected

Rangers currently have six options in midfield, with Nnamdi Ofoborh expected to return to the squad once he returns to full fitness.

Hopefully, that would be before or during the second half of the campaign, and we are definitely not in need of Veerman at the moment despite his huge quality.

Given the number of players available in some departments, we are likely to see more exits than arrivals during the closing weeks of the summer transfer window.

Rangers

Despite his massive potential, the Dutchman cannot improve the quality in the starting XI right now, and we are definitely going to have to wait until at least January before making any key additions to the first-team.

Manager Steven Gerrard has enough quality depth at his disposal for every position, and would be hoping multiple injuries do not deplete the quality of his squad during the course of the campaign.

Tying down Kamara to a new deal is brilliant business, and the Bears now need to do something similar with English centre-back Connor Goldson and some other key players.
