Tam McManus backs Rangers to get past Malmo in Champions League

Rangers gave themselves a massive lifeline in their Champions League qualifier against Malmo on Tuesday.

It looked as though they would be returning to Ibrox two goals behind before Steven Davis fired in a great drive with the final kick of the game.

Tam McManus has since backed the Bears to complete the job at Ibrox next week, with only a one-goal deficit between the sides.

Writing on his personal Twitter account after the game, McManus labelled the last-gasp goal as “huge” in the tie.

“Made life difficult for themselves against I’d say no more than a decent Malmö side,” he said.

“Poor performance but a huge goal at the death. Fancy Rangers to put them to bed comfortably at Ibrox.”

Huge.

When we needed someone to step up, Davis was the man.

Often an unsung hero in this side sitting in midfield, the Bears legend will go down in history no doubt, as he continues adding achievements to his resume.

It may have been a slice of luck with the deflection, but we deserved it as the Swedes got their own throughout the tie.

Steven Gerrard has called on the Ibrox faithful to step up next week, and it should be a full crowd, something which will no doubt have a massive effect.

McManus has backed the Bears to get through to that game against either Ludogorets or Olympiakos, which will be our biggest game in the past decade.

There’s more than £30million on the line in these games, and you need “huge” moments like this from your big players.
