Rangers star Alfredo Morelos spotted training at airport while in quarantine
Alfredo Morelos has been spotted training at an airport car park amid doubts about his availability to play for the Rangers.
A video clip has emerged on Twitter this week, showing the 25-year-old striker keeping himself fit while in quarantine after jetting in from Colombia.
According to the Daily Record, Morelos may return in time to play against Malmo for the second leg of Rangers’ Champions League qualifier at Ibrox next week.
It is understood the video clip is of him at Glasgow Airport.
Race against time
It remains to be seen when Morelos will be available to play again for Rangers but even if his period in quarantine ends before the Malmo game, will he be fit?
Morelos had a break after playing for Colombia at Copa America this summer but the Gers star barely played any minutes in the South American tournament.
Instead, he sat on the bench a lot and hasn’t really played properly since the end of last season.
He could be way short of match fitness and throwing him into the starting line-up for the Malmo game next week could be very risky.
Cedric Itten and Fashion Sakala are bound to be way more up to speed than El Bufalo, even though he appears to be keeping himself in good shape while in quarantine.
But Steven Gerrard and his coaches should have got Morelos back sooner than they did. It really isn’t great that it’s August 4 and their best striker is still unavailable.
This was definitely avoidable and we really hope that we don’t crash out of the Champions League with one of our better players unfit to play or stuck in self-isolation in Glasgow Airport.
