Rangers handed boost in their pursuit of Joey Veerman
Rangers have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Joey Veerman after Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen admitted that his club would struggle to afford the Dutchman.
Arnesen speaking to Voetbal International, revealed that he thinks Veerman is a “great player” but that it would be “difficult” to complete a deal because his side are “financially limited”.
This could be fantastic news for the Gers as it seems as if Feynoord have effectively pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old central midfielder. Veerman has been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, and this admission from Arnesen is a huge positive.

The Gers have been on the tail of Veerman for a while and have supposedly made contact with his agent [the Daily Record].
However, Heerenveen are asking for around £8.5m for Veerman, and as of yet, the Gers have not come up with the money required to take the Dutchman [the Daily Record].
The fact that Feyenoord seem to be out of the race, though, could be important for Rangers because Veerman admitted that he would have been keen on a move to Feyenoord [ESPN Netherlands]. So if they are out of the picture, the Gers stand a better chance of bringing Veerman in.
The 22-year-old has been described as “perfect” by Michael Mols and last season he scored nine goals and provided a further ten assists, so you can see why he could be the ideal addition to Steven Gerrard’s side [the Daily Record].
We will have to see what happens now but judging by these comments from Arnesen, the Gers have a much clearer run at Veerman.
Now is the time for the Gers to make their move for this undoubtedly talented midfielder as a major competitor appears to be out of the race.
In other Rangers news, one pundit has picked out who he thinks the Gers should sign this summer.
