Alex McLeish: Rangers deserve big sale, Morelos exit possible
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has insisted that Rangers deserve to sell one of their star players for big money this summer.
Alfredo Morelos, Glen Kamara and Ryan Kent have all attracted interest, but it is the Colombian who looks closest to an exit.
McLeish believes that El Bufalo is at the peak of his powers, and could have reached his potential in terms of big revenue for the club.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “If they feel that he’s maxed out in terms of revenue, then they could assess it.
“He’s now at the peak of his powers, he could play in a more competitive competition, but it will take a lot of money to move him.
“Sometimes, Rangers will eventually sell someone and they deserve that.”
Steven Gerrard has been handed the perfect chance to evaluate his attacking options this week.
Morelos is stuck in quarantine and will miss the game with Malmo on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
Fashion Sakala, Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe could all feature during his absence and add Jermain Defoe to that, and there are options galore.
Rangers would earn near to £20million for Morelos, too, meaning they could bring in another big-money striker if needed.
This isn’t us saying we would back the sale of our South American hero, but if there was an acceptable time, it would be now.
