Michael Ball expects Glen Kamara to leave

Glen Kamara is likely to leave Rangers this summer, claims former Gers left-back Michael Ball.

The Finland international has been one of Rangers’ best players over the last two seasons, but with two years left on his deal, and growing interest in his services, he has been linked with an exit from the Ibrox.

According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Brentford have all weighed up moves for the player and the lure of the Premier League could tempt him to leave the Scottish club.

Speaking to Football FanCast, Ball said, “It’s like every transfer you’ve got to be careful, tick every box that you feel personally is going to help yourself develop. He might feel another year at Rangers might help him develop a bit more.

“So, fingers crossed he does stay at Rangers, but I think it’s very, very doubtful with the rumours that we’re listening to right now.”

With two years left on his deal, this may be the only window we have to cash in on him as in January clubs do not usually tend to shell out the big bucks to sign players.

It’s looking unlikely that he wants to stay as there’s been nothing coming from his end about looking forward to spending his foreseeable future at the Ibrox, which is understandable as he feels he may want to try a different league and possibly push for a move to a big Premier League side.

We’ve signed John Lundstram as our recognised first-team midfielder who will strengthen our playing XI, but Kamara’s departure could mean we have to sign someone else.

Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman would be the ideal player to bring in as he’s not static like most of our players in that area and has a decent end product so we can rely on him for goals and assists when needed.

However, according to The Daily Record, they’re holding out for £8.5million to let go of the player and have already turned down a £4.2million offer from Hellas Verona.

This could prove to be a tad steep, but if we are to sell Kamara for close to £20million, it would go a long way to help bring Veerman to the club.
