Andy Walker predicts Rangers will defend Scottish Premiership title
Andy Walker has backed Rangers to defend their Scottish Premiership title this season from the likes of Celtic.
The campaign gets underway this afternoon, with the Bears welcoming Livingston to Ibrox with some key names missing.
Alfredo Morelos is the biggest of those, with El Bufalo still in quarantine after the COPA America this summer.
Writing for Sky Sports, Walker was clearly left impressed with the business conducted by Steven Gerrard in the market.
Fashion Sakala and John Lundstram were both hailed, and could both even start against Livingston this afternoon.
“Steven Gerrard, his coaching staff and practically all his players were magnificent last season,” he wrote.
“The signing of John Lundstram from Sheffield Utd certainly strengthens their options in the middle of the park.
“Fashion Sakala from Oostende in Belgium is an intriguing addition.”
Here we go.
It must have been a hard year for the likes of Walker, Chris Sutton and Michael Stewart, but they have all had the summer to recover.
They have crawled back out into the spotlight, and will likely be praying that Celtic can miraculously recover from their nightmare.
Unlucky for them, Rangers have become even stronger over the summer, plugging areas with smart signings, and not losing anyone.
Lundstram and Sakala make this squad even more fearsome, and it looks as though Livingston are going to feel the brunt of that this afternoon.
We’ve finally won the title after a decade of pain and torment, there is no chance we are letting it go as easy as they did last season.
