Alex McLeish predicts Rangers clash v Livingston
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has backed Rangers to get their season off to the perfect start against Livingston this afternoon.
The Bears continue their unbeaten league streak from last season and will look to extend this streak for much longer.
McLeish has heaped praise on Livingston for their recent efforts but admitted it is heavily against them on the opening day.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “You would imagine they will come and put up a rearguard display.
“I’ve seen some progress recently, so the fact they have managed to compete very well, they are difficult opposition.
“I don’t see them coming to Ibrox and beating Rangers or even taking a point after a Championship-winning season.”
Everything is pointing towards a big home win at Ibrox, but we can’t afford to allow complacency through the door.
Last season started with a strong statement away at Aberdeen, keeping a clean sheet and setting the tone – something we need to do yet again today.
Livingston have been tipped by many for relegation before the season gets underway, but they were still strong opposition last season – finishing in the top six.
Welcoming fans back will also create a more hostile environment and hopefully even more of a fortress.
The Bears finished the season by beating every team at home last season, and that could become even harder to beat this time around.
