Rangers could soon overtake Celtic revenue – The Athletic

Rangers are set for a potential windfall of £30-35million this season should they enter the Champions League group stage.

Jordan Campbell of the Athletic has insisted that would take them above Celtic in terms of revenue, after their embarrassing defeat this week.

It is suggested that it could hand a massive advantage to the Bears in years to come, which could result in huge dominance.

Writing for the Athletic on Friday afternoon, Campbell predicted that things could be about to get even worst for Celtic.

“Celtic’s failure to secure Champions League football — for the third consecutive season — means that Rangers enter a month that could provide them with the financial leg-up needed to hold the advantage for the next few seasons,” he wrote.

“The guaranteed prize money of £30-35 million for making the Champions League would likely take Rangers above Celtic in revenue stakes.”

No pressure.

It has not been commended enough for the job that Steven Gerrard and his squad have done by wrestling the power back to Ibrox.

When our boss arrived, we had been through the toughest spell of any club possibly ever, and after only three years he delivered the title and did it unbeaten.

To then overtake Celtic on the revenue front and hopefully start years of dominance, makes us laugh at how bad things have gone at Parkhead.

Dave King predicted that our fierce rivals would fold like a pack of cards after we won back the Scottish Premiership, but that has happened sooner than expected.

To then hand us the money to give us the safety of not having to sell any players, would be incredible.

Having said that, the job isn’t done.

We still need to sweep aside a dangerous Malmo side over two legs, and then get through a couple of rounds all together to reach the group stage and get that money.
