Alan Brazil makes big Rangers admission as he blasts Celtic for Champions League defeat

Alan Brazil admits Rangers are going places under Steven Gerrard and claims Celtic’s big focus is on the Premiership this season.

On Wednesday night, Ange Postecoglou’s men were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Midtjylland.

It is the latest embarrassment suffered by last season’s Premiership runners-up.

Rangers

While Celtic-mad talkSPORT host Brazil didn’t watch the match, he was furious with the result and admits that players like Odsonne Edouard could still leave Parkhead this summer to make matters worse.

“It’s all about the [Premiership] this year for Celtic. It’s all about those first couple of games against Rangers. That’s what it’s about, forget anything else,” said Brazil, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account on Thursday morning.

Co-host Jamie O’Hara then asked: “Yes, but have they signed anyone?”

Brazil replied: “No, and they’re going to lose some more.”

Ex-Tottenham player O’Hara then said: “That’s the thing. I look at Rangers and I look at Gerrard, they’re going places, aren’t they?”

After a bit of hesitation, Brazil admitted: “It appears so. I don’t want to be too bullish, Jamie. But it appears they’re going the right way and we’re not.”

O’Hara responded: “You’re miles off it – going out in the qualifiers for the Champions League [to] Midtjylland.”

Brazil then said: “I tell you what, [Ally] McCoist shouted up when the draw was made. He went, ‘oh, that’s not easy’. Right away he said it so.”

He added: “I didn’t see the game so I’m not going to comment on it. The result was pants and we go into the Europa League now, so there’s still a little bit of European football.

“But they’ve got to sort it now.

“What if Edouard, who wasn’t great last night I’m told, what if we start losing two or three more players?

“Who’s coming in now?”

The circus is back in town

Ladies and gentlemen, the Celtic circus is back.

You can guarantee yourselves a barrel of laughs every minute in a show featuring a bunch of clowns and donkeys.

What a mess that club is.

While we’ll admit that Midtjylland are not a bad team at all, Celtic have really let Scottish football down again in Europe with their woeful showing against the Danish club over two legs.

It’s absolutely hilarious to watch the sheer scale of the meltdown that is going on in the East End of Glasgow.

Postecoglou accepted a job that was way beyond his skillset and we cannot blame the bloke for that.

But the decision-makers on the board at Parkhead are just having a laugh, aren’t they?

It’s great for us though, sitting here in Govan as champions and with a Champions League qualifier against Malmo on the horizon.

We cannot get too cocky, in fairness, because we’re yet to qualify for the group stages ourselves and could still get knocked into the Europa League.

Malmo won’t be easy and are probably a slightly stronger team than Midtjylland.

But we’re a far more superior team than Celtic and if that comparison is anything to go by, we do predict victory against the Swedes.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are set to sign this “unbelievable” talent as they push to complete a deal before Saturday.
