Rangers fans cannot wait to see the back of Jordan Jones after it was reported that Wigan have made an approach to sign the winger.

Football Insider has reported that Jones, 26, has been told he is “free to find a new club” this summer after an underwhelming two years of being on the books at Ibrox.

It is understood that Wigan have been in contact over a deal for the former Kilmarnock attacker, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland and would be open to a return south of the border on a permanent basis.

Jones has not impressed at Ibrox, earning just 19 appearances in all competitions for the Gers since the summer of 2019.

In the last two years, he’s struggled with injuries and form, while also getting on the wrong side of Steven Gerrard by breaching COVID-19 protocol last season.

Now, our panel of Rangers Super Fans want to see Jones moved on this summer, with one saying he’s “not good enough” for the Scottish champions.

Here is what they had to say:

It’s fairly clearly that these Rangers fans are not standing on the fence when it comes to Jones.

The Northern Ireland international, along with George Edmundson, angered supporters last season when he was caught breaching COVID-19 protocol.

He didn’t exactly set the world alight on his resulting loan spell in England’s League One with Sunderland and therefore, we fail to see how he can be a star player at Rangers.

We’re no longer a club that settles for players who’ve been in the lower reaches of English football – we’ve seen that with George Edmundson leaving for Ipswich this week.

We stand a good chance of being a Champions League group stage team next season and players like Jones simply do not fit anymore.

In other Rangers news, Gerrard has got this decision on one of his star players totally wrong.
