Rangers may have been handed a boost to sign Joey Veerman as Hellas Verona have reportedly pulled out from the race.

According to Sky Italia, the Italian outfit decided to pursue other targets after having a £5million offer for the Dutchman turned down by Heerenveen.

Per Glasgow Times, Steven Gerrard is a huge admirer of the player and Rangers are willing to offer £7million to get him to the Ibrox this summer.

Gerrard has already added Nnamdi Ofoborh and John Lundstram to his midfield, but is still looking to continue bolstering that area of the pitch with a player he reckons is similar to he was during his Liverpool heyday.

Gers fans on Facebook are also fans of the 22-year-old and want him brought to the Ibrox this summer.

While Rangers have solidity in the middle of the park, they lack someone with the creativity and end product that Veerman can help provided.

Here’s what the Super Fans said on the links to the Dutchman:

Veerman is highly rated in the Netherlands and would be a terrific signing should we get this deal over the line.

Not only is he someone who can knit the play and play the simple passes, but he’s also capable of scoring and assisting – making him a dynamic attacking midfielder.

Last season, he scored seven and assisted 10 in the league – showcasing just how good his end product is.

He would walk into our playing eleven and give our midfield the perfect balance it needs to compete in the Champions League this coming season.
