Brian Kinnear has agreed a deal with West Ham after Rangers exit
Brian Kinnear has agreed a deal to join West Ham United after leaving Rangers at the end of last season, according to Record Sport.
The 20-year-old was released by the Scottish champions after his contract expired, and the Hammers offered him the chance to impress on a trial.
English Championship outfit Birmingham City were keen to sign Kinnear too, but he has now sealed a move to the London Stadium outfit, with Daily Record reporting so on their live blog [Saturday at 9:09 pm].
Huge move
We really did not see this one coming, and the Rangers academy graduate must have impressed the Hammers coaches a lot during his trial to land a deal.
Kinnear was regarded as a highly-rated youth prospect while with the Scottish giants, but he never got to make a first-team debut.
He instead became famous for being part of the five players who were caught breaking COVID protocols earlier this year.
The Scotland under-21 international spent last season on loan with Annan Athletic in the Scottish League Two last season, playing just twice.
He is most likely linking up with the West Ham under-23s, but could soon be playing for the first-team of the Europa League side.
David Moyes’ side finished sixth in the Premier League table last term and are looking forward to playing European football next season.
Kinnear has been offered a chance to turn his career around after the disappointment of getting released by the Light Blues, and we hope he takes this opportunity with both hands.
Getting a deal with West Ham is very impressive, though, and Rangers could end up ruing letting him should he go on and establish himself as a Premier League goalie.
