Rangers Super Fans want Jordan Jones gone amid latest speculation

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Rangers Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Ibrox. You can join in the discussion on our Rangers Insider Facebook page.

Rangers fans want Steven Gerrard to “get rid” of Jordan Jones this summer.

Jones, 26, has struggled to impress since joining the Gers in 2019, playing just 19 times in all competitions due to off-the-pitch issues, injuries and lack of form.

Last season, the ex-Kilmarnock winger was jettisoned out on loan to Sunderland after he broke COVID-19 protocols alongside George Edmundson, who was also loaned out.

Since Jones’ loan spell at Sunderland ended, he’s returned to Glasgow and Steven Gerrard has played the Northern Ireland international in pre-season fixtures.

Speaking to Ibrox News earlier this month, ex-Rangers manager Alex McLeish claimed Jones has only been appearing in pre-season to put him in the shop window.

We asked our panel of Rangers Super Fans whether Jones should be handed another chance at Ibrox next season and the response was very strong.

Many supporters say they want to see the back of the winger, who’s shown a “dreadful attitude” in Glasgow and has already “burnt his bridges” with the Scottish champions.

Here is what they said:

Jones didn’t do badly on his loan spell at Sunderland.

He made 21 appearances in total for the Black Cats, scoring three goals and supplying four assists as they reached the English League One play-offs.

Unfortunately for the Wearside club, they lost in the semi-finals to Lincoln City and Jones was left as an unused substitute for the second leg.

According to The Athletic, Jones could be loaned out again by the Light Blues before the summer transfer window closes.

He has two years left on his deal at Ibrox so a loan-to-buy agreement could be struck or a straight-up sale would no doubt be the best option for us.

In other Rangers news, Simon Jordan is concerned about the Gers after what Jim White told him on talkSPORT.
