Joe Aribo attracting attention from unnamed Premier League club

Joe Aribo, who missed Rangers’ friendly with Arsenal at the weekend, is the subject of interest from an “unnamed English Premier League” club, according to a report from

They claim that the 24-year-old is attracting “concrete interest” from this Premier League side and that “Aribo dreams” of playing in the PL one day.

However, they also claim that Aribo’s absence from the Arsenal match “had nothing to do with a potential exit” from Ibrox, which is reassuring. It seems then that after two years with the Gers, Aribo is starting to attract some interest from the Premier League.

Aribo to go or to stay?

The fact this club remains unnamed means that it is hard to work out if Aribo is more likely to stay or go.

He currently plays for a huge club in Scotland and has a good chance of winning silverware every season while he plays at Ibrox. This season he also has the Champions League to compete in.

If you compare that with the likes of Norwich City or Brentford, for example, who will probably be near the bottom of the league, don’t have European football and are relatively small clubs.

If a club like this were interested in the former Charlton Athletic man, you would think he would stay at Ibrox.

However, if a bigger club higher up the league were interested, then we could see Aribo leaving, but until we find out who this unnamed club is, it is hard to predict what Aribo is going to do.

He has made 91 appearances for Rangers, scored 17 goals, and provided 15 assists as well as been described as “fantastic” by Steven Gerrard [Rangers’ official site].

So it is easy to see why there is some interest in him from the Premier League, and it will be intriguing to see if more clubs make a move.

In other Rangers news, the club have rejected a bid from a Premier League club for one player.
