Scottish Sun photographers denied access to Ibrox for Rangers draw v Arsenal

The Scottish Sun were unable to send photographers to snap Rangers’ 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Ibrox on Saturday.

Arsenal had to come from behind twice in the thrilling pre-season friendly with Leon Balogun and Cedric Itten both getting on the scoresheet.

However, the Scottish Sun were unable to photograph the match with the newspaper saying via their print edition [July 18, page 64] that “Sun photographers were denied access to yesterdays’ game”.

This is getting silly

It’s going to get to the point where none of the media are allowed at Ibrox and as much as some fans feel as though that is a good thing, it’s definitely not.

You would have nothing interest to read at all about the Gers.

The club’s media channels are so dull and watered down – who wants to read or watch videos about players saying the same thing over and over?

Let’s face it, the media that the club puts out isn’t interesting at all but the stuff we read in the newspapers is way more encapsulating.

The club cannot continue to wage war against the media. If they do, they’ll only force more and more negative stories against them.

We’re not sure why The Sun’s photographers were not allowed to a pre-season friendly match. Maybe something was written by a journalist that the club didn’t like or they haven’t agreed to pay the £25,000 fee the Gers want for media access [Daily Mail].

Either way, we don’t like where this is going.

Does any other club block journalists or media outlets as often as Rangers?

We don’t think there is.

In other Rangers news, a Dutch journalist has shared a big update on the Gers’ pursuit of Joey Veerman.
