Rangers fans chants to Kieran Tierney during Ibrox friendly detailed in full
Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney received a hot reception upon his return to Ibrox as Rangers fans delighted in rejoicing about his old club’s struggles.
The Athletic‘s report from Saturday’s friendly between Arsenal and Rangers featured a passage on the reaction from home supporters as the 23-year-old left-back took to the hallowed turf for the first time since his Celtic days.
The Scotland international has never been shy to profess his disdain for his Old Firm adversaries and Rangers fans let him know about it on Saturday.

Chants of “here we go, 10 in a row” were heard from the hospitality seats as he was warming up, according to The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell, a reference to how the Light Blues shattered the Hoops’ hopes last season by romping home with the Premiership title.
Then, as he came out for the second half and assumed his full-back position, chants of “championes, champions, ole, ole, ole” were followed by “this is how it feels to be Rangers, 55 titles you know, Kieran Tierney won’t see 10 in a row”.

Fans back in full voice
How great it was to see fans back at Ibrox for the first time in 16 months.
It’s been a long road up to this point as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have taken their toll on life and football, but Saturday saw a slight return to the normality that everyone in football craves.
Even if it was a ‘harmless’ friendly to build up fitness and get the legs going again after a break, fans still bellowed and barked as if it was an ordinary league fixture.
There’s one thing that supporters haven’t forgotten during those 16 months, and that’s where Tierney’s allegiances lie in Glasgow.
Every touch prompted a jeer as Bears rejoiced in some light-hearted fun at Ibrox, and it was a strangely comforting noise.
Let’s hope more fans will be allowed into Ibrox as soon as possible. We can only imagine the racket a full capacity will make after such a long absence.
