Chris Sutton admits major Celtic doubts, backs Rangers for Premiership triumph
Chris Sutton has admitted major concerns over Celtic’s Premiership prospects this season, believing it will be a herculean task to bridge the gap to Rangers.
The former Hoops striker has been a consistent critique of Rangers but had to watch on as his former adversaries obliterated the competition last season to break Celtic dreams of 10-in-a-row.
There has since been a managerial reshuffle at Celtic Park, with Greek-born Australian manager Ange Postecoglou taking over the reins.

But, writing in his Daily Record column, Sutton has expressed major doubts over the state of the club and its “depleted” squad.
He wrote: “It’s put Postecoglou in an impossible position. The Aussie has gone into clubs before and shown he’s not scared to make changes.
“But he’s been here such a short space of time, how can he analyse what he has in front of him and have a clear plan?
“He hasn’t got a chance. This is the stuff of miracles if he can get a tune out of this team and turn around a 25-point gap on Rangers.”

Pressure tactic?
This is either an honest reflection of Celtic’s current affairs, or an attempt to pile the pressure on Rangers.
For the first time in a long while, the Gers will be starting the season as favourites to lift the Premiership title. After such a long period of Celtic dominance, that feels nice.
But it also comes with its pitfalls – the pressure will be cranked up to 100 on the club, and there will be huge expectancy from supporters and pundits.
That will be the true test of Steven Gerrard and co – can they handle it? Can they withstand the pressure and record back-to-back league titles?
Gerrard may well cement his place in the Rangers history books if they do.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are set for a head-on transfer collision with this Ibrox star as he bids to force an exit this summer.
